D&S and Foster Grant Celebrate the Oscars

Company Participates in Celebrity Destination, HAVEN by HFM Media

PROVIDENCE - Duffy & Shanley headed to a luxurious private estate in Beverly Hills for an Oscars event sponsored by client, Foster Grant. The full-service agency organized Foster Grant’s participation in a celebrity retreat and gifting house, HAVEN by HFM Media, during Academy Awards Week 2009. Foster Grant, the world’s largest distributor of sunglasses, had a display on-site February 18 through February 20 to showcase their wide variety of stylish sunglasses and reading glasses and to gift and interact with Hollywood’s hottest stars and entertainment media.

Duffy & Shanley arranged the gifting and invited attendees to pose with Foster Grant sunglasses and reading glasses for photographers near signs with the iconic tagline, “Who’s That Behind Those Foster Grants?” Celebrities were invited to autograph Foster Grants to be auctioned off this summer for charity as part of the brand’s 80th Anniversary celebration, revisiting the brand’s claim to fame as “Sunglasses of the Stars.” Duffy & Shanley also managed Foster Grant’s participation in the Yansi Fugel Spring Collection fashion show on Friday, February 20th. “Foster Grant has such a rich, iconic Hollywood history,” said Jonathan Duffy, President, Duffy & Shanley, “Back in the ‘60s, Hollywood legends
like Raquel Welch and Woody Allen made the ‘Who’s That Behind Those Foster Grants?’ one of the most popular taglines of all time. Thanks to those stars and the influence of Hollywood, sunglasses became synonymous with ‘cool.’ Participating in the Oscars in this way allowed us an avenue to return the brand to its roots and kick off their 80th Anniversary celebration. We were very pleased with how well both the celebrities,
stylists, and media received the brand.”


The Associated Press, Entertainment Tonight, and other entertainment media covered Foster Grant’s participation in HAVEN. A full-page recap of the event, which will include Foster Grant, will be featured in five of HFM’s media properties, Elle, American Photo, Elle Décor, Metropolitan Home and Premiere.
